WIN: More than $2500 worth of prizes in Styling You’s Christmas Comes Early competition

Nikki Parkinson Beauty, Fashion 212 Comments

My kids have started back at school for the final term of 2011. By December 1, they’ll have finished another year and I’ll be sitting there scratching my head wondering where did it go?

In my head I’m still back some time in May and December 25 is a long, long way away. Which, of course, it isn’t.

In fact, someone asked me yesterday if I’d started my Christmas shopping. I laughed. But then stopped myself. I really should be doing at least a little planning (now where’s that Dan Murphy’s catalogue?).

Truth be known, I’ve got a super busy month ahead so I really doubt Christmas will be on my radar until at least mid-November, which is why I decided that my latest competition should celebrate the impending madness … but make it all about you.

To be specific – 16 gifts just for you.

Headlining those gifts is the new Nokia N9 smart phone. Launched yesterday, thank-you very much. Now, I know there’s a stack of Stylers out there who are keen to get their hands and fingers on a new smart phone (because every time I give away a Nokia, you get a wee bit excited), so here’s another chance.

Plus, up for grabs are skincare packs, accessories, stationery, beautiful home storage solutions, gift packs and sheer hosiery (a la Kate and Pippa Middleston style).

———————————————————————————————————————————————-

Nokia N9 smart phone $799

The Nokia N9 is all about design and simplicity. The stunning high-end smartphone comes in black, blue and pink and is sold through Optus, Telstra, Vodafone and all major retailers.

It features a 3.9-inch AMOLED panel with a ClearBlack display, which makes the dark bits darker and the colours much more vivid.

The casing is made from material commonly used in ice hockey helmets and the paint is bled right through the material so the colour remains even if you scratch it. The material also allows for a superior antenna performance which means better reception, better voice quality, fewer dropped calls and a higher GPS accuracy.

The Nokia N9 “all-screen” design means there is no physical home button. Instead, it has touch and swipe gestures which lets you navigate around the homescreen.

The user interface is designed around the things people typically do the most – use apps, socialise and multitask. There are three homescreens, which are arranged in a carousel. The first homescreen is for accessing your apps; the second for social networking, calling, texting and calendar; and the final screen shows which applications are open. The screen can be pinched or zoomed to show either four or nine open app icons.

The Nokia N9 also comes with an 8-megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics, wide-angle lens, HD video capture and large lens aperture for greater performance even in lowlight conditions.

  6. Hi Nikki, I’ve heard about your blog from a Sydney radio FM 103.2 program this morning. Checked on “Styling You TV”, great stuffs!!! I’ll have plenty to caught up 😀

I am an “antique” in technology, I don’t Tweet, Facebook nor Myspace, I only MSN with my family. And even though I’ve viewed some good blogs, I’ve never subscribed them, but I’ve just subscribed to your blog, because I see you replied people’s comments; and because I really like your “Three reasons to subscribe to the Styling You e-newsletter”.

    Cheers!!

  9. Nikki! I just entered, and they are fantastic prizes! But, I thought that I may have entered earlier, I looked through the comments and I can’t see one from me earlier, I’m so sorry if I’ve entered twice. Poor memory from lack of sleep and two crazy children can make you forget what you’ve done! Thanks for the chance though! Melis.

  12. Wow, that would be fantastic to win any of those prizes!

Nikki, just one question/suggestion. Would you be able to start a once weekly “how to” with makeup starting from the very basics? I’m such a newbie to makeup and was never really taught how to do it all, so it’s pretty much a “guess and pray it looks decent” kinda thing with me. I daresay mothers with young daughters would also enjoy a weekly feature they could pass onto their daughters so they can learn to apply their makeup too? I’m talking from the ultra basics, right down to “how to apply foundation” and primers etc.

I love your features on the latest products, but given I’m sometimes confused on the order of applying makeup or how it’s actually meant to be applied, sometimes I just shrug my shoulders and think “not for me”.

  15. With Christmas in mind her is how I survive present buying: 1. Try to buy one gift a week in the lead up to Christmas (starting August/October)2. For the hard to buy for i.e. elderly I buy a couple of extra things each week when doing groceries and give them an ‘entertaining hamper’ at Christmas.
