Pink power: support Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Nikki Parkinson Beauty, Fashion 8 Comments

Pink has long been synonymous with fundraising in October.

Each year the list of fashion and beauty brands which put their collective corporate hands up to support the organisations raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research and women affected by breast cancer continues to grow.

And that warms my heart.

The sad fact is that few women my age could say they have never known anyone affected by breast cancer. The more positive fact is that with increased awareness about breast cancer and its symptoms, more women are doing breast checks and having regular screening – and that’s making a difference to their chances of recovery.

Keep that awareness and fundraising at the forefront of your mind when out shopping this month.

Here are some suggestions for your Pink Power gift list:

1. Tumi Super Leger carry on $560 (20% of sales to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation) | 2.  OPI Pink Ribbon Shatter Limited Edition Laquer $19.95 (100% of sales profits to The National Breast Cancer Foundation) | 3. Samantha Wills Venezia earrings $89 (All proceeds to The McGrath Foundation) | 4. Berlei and Berlei Curves bra $69.95 and briefs $29.95 ($5 from each sale will go to Breast Cancer Research Australia. During October Berlei is also donating more than 12,000 Berlei My Care Kits to women with breast cancer during this time. The kit includes soft cup bra and soft forms for women who have undergone surgery for breast cancer.) | 5. Jeanswest Charity Tote, Gorman pictured, $19.95 ($5 from every sale goes to The Cancer Council) | 6. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion includes keyring charm $110 ($20 from each sale goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation) | 7. Jane Iredale Rose and Lollipops limited edition lip duo $40 ($1 from each sale will be donated to the Breast Cancer Association)

Have you bought anything to support Breast Cancer Awareness or research this month?  Do you have a favourite pink product? Or breast cancer cause that you support?

  1. Thanks Nikki, this is such a great cause.

I lost my Mum this week and while breast cancer was not the illness which finally took her from us, many of her problems started after her diagnosis. So this is a cause close to my heart.

  2. I hosted a Girls Night in fundraiser on Saturday night to raise money for Women’s cancers and I must say we all rocked the pink look. So glad more and more businesses are getting behind it every year.

  3. Nikki, thanks for supporting one of my favorite causes. I will be on the look out for the OPI nail polish. I always try to pick “pink” products when there is that option. Fran
