Welcome to a new regular post at Styling You … fashion and beauty snippets rolled into one spot.  It’s all the stuff you didn’t realise you needed to know but now that you do you’ll feel like you’re up with the goss.  And king of the watercooler.

Chanel’s “enchanting” take on Fall-Winter 2011-12

If you can’t get a front-row (hey, I’d settle for a back row) seat at the Chanel ready-to-wear show, then this is the next best thing.  Check out the video and you’ll see what I mean.  The models step out from giant white Chanel gift boxes to launch a collection that shows a strong masculine trend.  What will we see filter down to everyday fashion? Man-style pants rolled up to reveal an ankle and worn with kitten heels.  I can do that.

Katy Perry the new face of ghd

Upping the styling iron marketing ante is ghd with the announcement that singer Katy Perry will be the brand’s new face.  “I’m so excited to be working with ghd, especially using their tools on my California Dreams Tour to get me stage ready. ghd products have a reputation of being the best products in the biz, and I like being associated with that. I’m very excited to reveal the styles I did with legendary David LaChapelle in the upcoming ghd campaign. Keep your eyes peeled for it,” says Perry.

Peter Alexander joins leg warmers with PJ pants

As the weather cools down, it’s definitely time to give major consideration to the big problems in the world, like ankles getting cold in bed when your pyjama pants ride up.  Worry no more, stylers, for the pyjama king, Peter Alexander, has thought long and hard about this and come up with pyjama pants with built-in leg warmers. Genius.  They’ll be available soon.

Kelsey Martinovic puts best foot forward for Peeptoe

Kelsey was runner-up in last year’s Australia’s Next Top Model.  Yep, that one.  The one who was told she won, then told she didn’t. All’s good now, especially in her shoe-robe now that she’s the new brand ambassador for PeepToe shoes.  Her first role was to launch the brand’s Glam Rebel collection, which is in store and online now.

Country Road launches its online gift registry

It’s less than three months to my birthday, so you might want to start planning a purchase for that little event.  Kidding.  But if you were wanting to get planning for a special occasion in YOUR life, then I’d be suggesting setting up a wishlist on the new online Country Road gift registry.  Choose what you’d like bought for you and sit back and wait for the delivery.  It’ll all come gift wrapped and you’ll get a Country Road gift card to 10% of the value of the gift registry total order. Nice.

Rihanna helps NIVEA celebrate 100 years in skincare

Iconic skincare company NIVEA will get some help from singer Rihanna in blowing out the 100 candles on its birthday cake this year. It’s a move aimed at bringing in a new generation of fans. NIVEA are also sponsoring Rihanna’s world tour, much like Perry’s deal with ghd mentioned above.

That’s it for now, Stylers … I’d like to know though:  are you influenced as to what you buy if there is a celebrity backing the brand?

  1. Don’t know about the rolled up suit pants? I’m sure if I did it one leg would be half undone and I’d end up looking a bit crazy rather than fashionable.

But the built in leg warmers are a winner. Does it come with matching headband?
