WIN: More than $2000 worth of prizes in Styling You’s Fave Things giveaway

Nikki Parkinson Beauty, Fashion 195 Comments

Now, I may not be the world’s most powerful and rich woman … but I do have a very uncool girl crush on her.  So I thought why not emulate Oprah’s annual Favourite Things giveaway with a little one of my own?

I love my job, which affords me the luxury of being able to “play” with lots of new and fabulous fashion and beauty products.  It’s tough, I know.  But it’s lucky I like to share …

Styling You readers have the chance to win one of 15 prizes in my Fave Things giveaway.  The total prize pool is valued at $2346.  The competition starts on Thursday, February 24, 2011 and ends on Thursday, March 24, 2011.  Winners will be selected at random using www.random.org on Friday, March 25 and notified by email on Monday, March 28.  The winners’ names will also be posted here. Only one entry per person please (those entering more than once will be excluded from the prize draw).  Feel free to share the love by leaving a comment, Tweeting or Facebooking the competition … consider it comp karma.  Good luck!

Mimco Beatnik Hip Bag – Fresco $379

I can stand in a Mimco store for hours … well until I start to get strange looks from the lovely sales assistants.  So many beautiful bags and trinkets.  Loving the new Beatniks collection. Mimco references the late ’50s & early ’60s when times were a changin’. The clean and tidy aesthetic favoured by Beatniks and mods is channelled through this range of neat and tidy satchels and hand bags.  Make this clean aesthetic your own with the Beatnik Hip Bag.  Double gusseted style, it features quilt embossed leather details, metal tipped flap on front pocket and flat adjustable across the body strap.  www.mimco.com.au

Not Your Daughter’s Jeans – 2 pairs valued at $219 each

When these jeans arrived in Australia more than three years ago, they changed my life – and the life of many other women around Australia.  Women who had not worn jeans for a long time; women who found jeans uncomfortable; women who gave up trying to find jeans that would fit them.  NYDJ Tummy Tuck jeans literally lift you up and make you feel like you’ve got it going on.  These jean’s contain a high percentage of Spandex, offering a two-way stretch that sucks you in in all the right places.  All the while they give you the comfort factor of a pair of leggings.  The NYDJ collection continues to grow as well, offering cuts from bootleg to straight – and this season look for the very on-trend skinny leg cargo styles to add to your collection. www.nydjaus.com.au

Belle Bijoux Fruit Salad flats – 5 pairs valued at $79 each

If I’m not teetering in heels, I love a statement flat.  These Fruit Salad flats from Belle Bijoux are all statement and perfect with a pair of denim jeans. The Belle Bijoux name is synonymous with timeless contemporary design, quality and attention to detail. Belle’s inspiration comes from a love of vintage fashion and old world sensitivity.  Celebrities such as Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Hawkins, Megan Gale, Kate Ceberano, and Sophie and Gemma Ward love Belle Bijoux.  As one of Belle’s priorities, all of her designs are manufactured in factories that operate to highly ethical standards, which she personally takes the time to visit and oversee. www.bellebijouxaustralia.com

Sodashi Vanilla body products $281

Vanilla has to be my fave scent – especially when linked with coconut – which is why this is my favourite luxe body butter.  Sodashi Vanilla Body Butter ($130.90) also contains subtle essences of ylang ylang, patchouli to soothe the senses, while mango butter and coconut oil provide long-lasting moisturisation.   And I know you want more … Sodashi Vanilla Body Exfoliant ($75.90) gently exfoliates the body, restoring soft, smooth skin.  Vanilla comforts, while Wattle Seed and Sandalwood Powder smooth skin and relieve stress and tension. Apply Sodashi Vitamin Rich Body Oil ($74) directly onto skin, or dampen skin with water before sprinkling exfoliant onto skin.  Massage over skin and rinse to remove.  www.sodashi.com

Cloud Nine iron $270

Whatever did we do pre-styling iron days?  So imagine my excitement to discover and trial this new iron on the hair styling block?  It’s called Cloud Nine.  The ability to adjust the heat settings to both the hair type and desired style is a major benefit of Cloud Nine’s revolutionary technology. The six heat settings reduce unnecessary damage often caused by the searing heat of standard styling irons (many hair types do not need high temperatures to achieve a particular style – especially fine or delicate hair). With additional features, including unique black plates with a secret ingredient that adds shine to the hair, automatic hibernation mode, universal voltage, heat guard and carry case, your hair will be on Cloud Nine all day, every day.  Available exclusively in professional hair salons. Emu Australia Stinger Lo boots $159

I may live in Queensland but once the seasons change my feet immediately turn cold.  Unless of course they are wrapped in the warm loveliness of these Emu Australia boots.  Unlike a host of Hollywood celebs who think it’s ok to wear a pair of Emus outside the house, I’m firmly of the belief that they are home boots.  And it’s there they are they have a place in my heart.  I’m also mighty impressed that Emu showed at New York Fashion Week this month. Emu is dedicated to creating premium quality sheepskin EMU boots and merino wool products.  The collection caters for women, men and kids.  The range includes sheepskin coats, lambskin  jackets, sheepskin boots and superfine merino wool clothing.  www.emuaustralia.com

Trilogy Sensitive Skin provides peace and comfort to even the most fragile, intolerant and sensitive complexions. Samantha Wills The High Tea necklace $110

You know my thoughts on statement necklaces.  And you know my thoughts on tea.  Put those two loves together and you have the very charming The High Tea necklace, which is part of Samantha Wills’ latest Diversity of Life collection. The necklace is subtle but striking, with the centre a blush-coloured cameo resin design sitting on a hand-cast antique setting and hung from a long, antique gold chain. With celebrity fans including Drew Barrymore, Kate Hudson, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Fergie, Samantha Wills wants you to be in star style this autumn-winter season. Borne Naked trio pack $89.95

I love to give the illusion that I’m super organised – even in my handbag – which is why I have about five Borne Naked handbag liners.  Seriously, I don’t know what I ever did without them. You can get your handbag organised in less than 60 seconds and keep it that way.  Borne Naked handbag liners keep your handbag essentials at hand and the clear 100% virgin PVC means you can see where everything is.  With two small compartments for keys, credit cards and lippy, a medium compartment for mobile and larger compartment for purses, you’ll always know where everything is.  Say goodbye to digging around your handbag for a ringing mobile or house keys.  You won’t forget a thing next time you need to change handbags, simply transfer your Borne Naked liner from work tote to evening bag to gym bag to beach bag. www.BorneNaked.com

——————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Lanolips pack $106.35

If you’ve missed me raving on about Lanolips, you’re clearly new to this blog.  I have – and use – every one of these products.  The Rose Balm Intense ($15.95) and 101 ointment ($17.95) sit on my bedside table and are used every night before bed, the balm on my hands and the ointment on my lips, cuticles and cracked heels (too much info?).  The 101 is made from ultra pure medical grade lanolin and has 101 uses.  The lip ointments with colour ($13.95) – Rose, Apples, Rhubarb, Honey and Sunshine – contain 60% ultra medical grade lanolin and each colour is somehow perfect.  The tints are subtle and suit most skin tones – best of all your lips will love them.  All products are Australian made. www.lanolips.com
