Welcome back to Fabulous Friday for 2011. I know it’s February but I spent most of January in a swimsuit with (real) beach hair and no makeup and didn’t want to frighten you away. FOREVER. So, if you’re new to Styling You, every week I do a vlog style tip … something to think about over the weekend, particularly if you are hitting the shops.
This week I’m talking about statement necklace. By just adding one piece to your outfit, you can lift it to a whole new level.
And here are some necklaces that have tickled my lust-have button …
1. Alex Perry for Diva Short Flower Feature Necklace $26.99
2. Country Road Embellished Scarf $99
3. Samantha Wills Melody Necklace $165
4. Anthropologie Future Memories Necklace $AUD121.66
5. Elk FishTail Plain Necklace $55
6. Salita Matthews Finite/Infinite Flower Necklace $360
Do you have a favourite necklace that can turn even the most basic tee or tank into a fashion talking point? And, if you have a styling question you’d like answered on this weekly post, email me: [email protected]

Thanks Glen
I just saw that gorgeous diva necklace this morning on my travels, its really stunning. Jewellery and necklaces are also perfect for when you are pregnant and dont want to buy more maternity clothes but are over what you have.

That is so true, Selina … I used scarves when I was pregnant for the same reason.
I really love Elk jewellery as well. Their latest leather bags are also really cool. Can you please tell me what the colourful necklace you held up was? It was gorgeous. Great vlog!

Sorry, I should have put up words on each of those (I’m getting better at the whole editing thing!). It was a Riley Burnett necklace – they’re based south of Bryon Bay. http://www.rileyburnett.com
I have some good costume jewllery necklaces but nothing I would call a ‘statement’ piece – although I am looking! Love Anthropologie’s site.
I recently discovered Nicole Fendel in an article, and locally we have Sophie Kyron… haven’t made the big splurge yet but you are inspiring me to do it!

Oh, I LOVE Sophie Kyron and should have held one of hers up that I own. When I started this business three years ago, I started investing in some of the more expensive pieces – they are works of art and they are timeless and still fit on fat days/months! I still buy inexpensive but do treasure the pieces I’ve invested in as well.
I love necklaces and it’s exactly for the reason you stated, they can change any outfit and just make it pop. I live in casual clothes, and sometimes you just want to feel that little more special and for me a beautiful necklace will do that. I have a few faves, a plain silver necklace with a large key and other charms, a dark silver necklace with a large wing that has black stones on it, and a red beaded drop necklace which I made myself.

They all sound fantastic, Sharon. Necklaces are the easiest way to lift an outfit.
