Your makeup shouldn’t be serious … but it should include Benefit(s)

Fans of San Francisco makeup company Benefit will need no introduction to this beauty brand that has been seducing fans all around the world for the past 30 years.

The brand has grown from one boutique (with a candy store feel) to 1000 counters in 25 countries.  The success has a lot to do with the products but it also has a lot to do with the company’s quirky/feminine packaging and whimsical names … Stay Don’t Stray (a primer for eye makeup) … Dr Feelgood (a balm to mattify your skin) … and Some Kind of Gorgeous (an oil-free foundation faker) … to name a few.

I fell in love with this brand all over again on a recent Blogger event visit to its only Australian boutique in Paddington, Sydney (you’ll find Benefit counters in selected Myer around Australia and online at Adore Beauty though).

These are some of my current favourite products (includes a few new ones and a couple of cult ones):

benetint ($55) - this signature lip and cheek stain was developed in the 1970s and it's reached legend status. Try it and you'll see why!

Tweezerman for benefit Pointed Slant Tweezer ($52) - part of the new Tweezerman for benefit range, these are great for precision plucking!

That Gal ($51) - wear on its own or under makeup for smoother and brighter skin

Smokin eyes ($68) includes everything you need to create sexy, smoky eyes and beautiful brows, all in minature form and perfect for travelling

And here is the lowdown on the latest product that you will fall in love with …

Sorry to tease you but this one’s not on Benefit counters until August 21.  But trust me, you will want to get your hands on it.

The POREfessional ($53) is Benefit’s new silky smooth primer designed to instantly minimise the appearance of pores (and fine wrinkles for those of us … ah um … who are of a certain age).  You only need a small amount. Once it’s patted lightly on the chin, nose and forehead, the effect is immediate.  Voila – super smooth skin which, as you know, is exactly what you need as a canvas for best foundation application. The formulation is translucent so great for all skin tones – and also great for touching up your makeup during the day.
