Fabulous Friday July 23: What’s made your week?

Welcome to Fabulous Friday.  Every week, I share a little about my week, the good stuff (I’m not into the negative), a little retail therapy and a few fun moments.  Then it’s your turn.  What made your week?  Did you find a fashion bargain?  See a great movie?  Read an inspirational book?  Let me know by leaving a comment below.

This week was one of those weeks where the juggle that comes with the territory of running your own business and being mum actually works.  Yes, those balls have stayed up in the air.  Come to think of it, maybe I’ve just been up in the air with those balls – grateful I have the ability to do the juggle in the first place. This is just a snapshot of what my week has looked like.  It’s so a reminder of why I went into business for myself.  AND why I’m looking forward to a glass of red tonight!

Monday:  Panel interview for the Sunshine Coast Business Woman of the Year Awards {cannot stress how amazing this awards’ process has been.  Feel like I’ve achieved a lot since being nominated six weeks ago}.

Tuesday:  Drive to Brisbane {with youngest son in tow} to watch eldest son compete in the state finals of the International Brain Bee competition at Queensland Uni {he was one of only 35 State finalists from 1300 entrants – so proud of his achievement and loved having the chance to show him were I lived on campus when I was *gulp* only three years older than what he is now}.

Wednesday:  Spent morning as roster mum at youngest son’s pre-prep centre.  It was his 5th birthday and I recreated the cupcake station from earlier in this series of Masterchef.  {#mumtip … this proved ingenious as I was able to make cupcakes late the night before without worry of trying ice them while they were still warm}.

Thursday:  Wardrobe edit with a new client followed by a guest speaker gig for networking group Le Club de Femmes {Bonus … I got to speak about one of my favourite topics … shoes.}

Today:  A wardrobe edit for a client who wants me to help her compile a shopping list for New York {umm … that’s almost like I’m taking her shopping in NYC, isn’t it?}.

… which provides a great sedgeway for …

Oh, if only I were in the US this week, I would be able to find out what Don and Betts are up to. Mad Men Season 4 premiered this week.  Loving the look that Vanessa Scali for Nars Cosmetics created for Christina Hendricks (aka Joan) at the premiere.  It worked a treat with her sultry Dolce & Gabbana dress. The new Pure Matte Lipstick in Bangkok (a soft, matte rose colour available August 23) was key in creating her look along with other products from Nars’ Fall 2010 Colour Collection.

This week on the blog (in case you missed it!):

And finally, I have to share this video with you …

Following on from the super sexy Autumn-Winter fashion video from Witchery, this week the chain store launched its summer video.  It evokes an Aussie summer of romance by the beach. My only concern is that it features double denim.  I’m still not convinced that this is fashion statement that anyone should be embracing and the model in the video obviously agrees …. she removes the denim shirt, leaving a single denim statement that I’m sure would turn many a head.

  1. What made my week…
Well this morning at 1am my neice welcomed her brand new baby son into the world. Nothing smells as good as a new baby, and christmas is so much more loving when there is a brand new family member to embrace with enthusiasm.

So a new twig has sprounted on our family tree and with all the parents and grandparents gone, it is me who is now perched the highest on the limb but it is so good to see all the healthy blossoms below of neices, nephews, great nieces and nephewes, grandchildren and cousins that have made our tree vibrant, strong and well nourished for the decades ahead with the love and caring and family bond that has come from the generations before us.

    1. Post
  2. thanks everyone for stopping by – it’s wine o’clock. Happy, happy Friday.

  5. Happy Friday Nikki … making my week this week? Well, finding a black leather belt that matches my steel cap boots and at least makes me feel like I’m a bit fashion forward while wondering around the mine site … that was pretty cool lol. Especially since it was a bargain at $10!!
And finding some beautiful new scarves to add to my Katiebo collection … that is exciting too! What a contrast … mine site fashion and new scarves. Ho Hum.
    Katiebo xx

  6. I am finally cleaning out my wardrobe and my children’s wardobes (and toy room) and listing all those things that I can on ebay. A big job, however 41 items listed already on Ebay so I am very pleased with myself. When I am finished I will have enough money to buy brand spankin stylish clothes for summer for myself and my children – woo hoo!
