Welcome to Fabulous Friday. Every week, I share a little about my week, the good stuff (I’m not into the negative), a little retail therapy and a few fun moments. Then it’s your turn. What made your week? Did you find a fashion bargain? See a great movie? Read an inspirational book? Let me know by leaving a comment below. Best comment wins a surprise gift.
Buy of the week: If you haven’t snapped up a pair of flat over-the-knee boots this season, get your legs into these by Natasha. They’re on sale at High Heels Mooloolaba (instore and online) for $257.40 (they were $429). They’re made from luxe suede, lined with cotton and feature three gold buckles at the back that you can adjust to fit your calf. Oh, and when we are all over hiding our knees, they can be folded down. Time to invest? I think yes.
Feeling every bit my age after the birthday fest last weekend. So much fun just can’t be good for you, can it? So, many highlights but one that really sticks out in my mind is listening to The McGrath Foundation’s Tracy Bevan at The High Tea Party (Stamford Plaza, Brisbane, last weekend). Tracy told the incredible story of her friendship with Jane McGrath and the legacy that story has created. It was funny, it brought tears, it was inspirational. But most of all it left me feeling that Jane would have been incredibly proud of the work that Tracy and the foundation have already achieved to fund breast care nurses for breast cancer patients around Australia. A worthy cause indeed.
Speaking of inspirational speakers, I’m currently in Day 2 of The Art of Public Speaking Masterclass with Carren Smith. Carren survived the Bali bombing in 2002 and the suicide of her partner. Telling her story has been part of Carren’s healing. Now she helps and inspires others to tell their story, to make a difference in this world. I’m in awe and am like a sponge … absorbing all that I can. Those who know me, know I like a chat, so soon I’ll be “chatting” with more of you in workshops and keynote speeches around Australia and overseas (he, he … just putting it out there!).
My winter beauty essential … that “you can’t leave home without it” item … is Lanolips 101 Ointment. It’s a multi-tasking power house in a $17.95 tube and now my husband has taken possession of my supply. He was in Melbourne this week for work and possibly his need was greater than mine but quite frankly, I have needs too. This all-natural product is made from ultra medical grade lanolin. It can turn lips from scaly to luscious overnight as well as help treat minor cuts, dry heels, eczema and psoriasis and so much more. But it online at Adore Beauty or Addicted2LipBalm. It’s also available at a number of other outlets around Australia.
