Yes, that’s right. Taupe. A fancy name for beige. Usually considered boring.
Boring until Chanel sent it on models’ nails down the runway of its Spring/Summer 10 show. The taupe nails (Chanel Nail Colour in Particuliere $39) were an extension of Chanel’s farmhouse theme.
Since then this murky (yet strangely seductive) taupe-with-a-hint-of-grey hue has been spotted on nails of celebrities the world over. It’s now available in Australia but don’t be surprised if there is a waiting list. Yes, that’s right. I said waiting list. For a nail colour.
If you can’t wait, try OPI‘s Over the Taupe ($19.95). It’s Nicky Hilton’s favourite. It’s a bit more purple than its counterpart at Chanel but still cutting edge. BTW, Over the Taupe is part of a collection designed in conjuction label Paige Denim.
