Winter racing style … it’s all about the hat, the hair and the clothes … and Buderim.
Well, it was on a recent Saturday afternoon. Fashion on Top – a VIP showing of hats by Sandy A, hair by Suite Three and clothes by Gingers Boutique – had guests keen to plan their next trip to the track.
Milliner Sandy Aslett worked alongside Suite Three stylists Maria Faulder and Michelle Mackay to create winning race day looks. Gingers’ Allanah Powell created a fashion blank canvas for the show-stopping headwear, with designs including Sunshine Coast designer Leonie MacLeod, the woman behind new label, Verily.
Guests enjoyed champagne and sushi while making mental notes on what to commission for their winter race day look.
“Start with a stunning dress, add in hoisery, gloves, a hat and the right hair style and you’ll be on a winner,” said host Nikki Parkinson, of Styling You.
Winter hats are all about winter fabrics and colours. Cloche and pillbox styles feature strongly with rich texture and fabrics such as felt completing the essential winter race day look. But it’s not all about placing your hat on your head and jumping in a taxi to the track … once you have your hat, book in for a hair consultation. The focus is on the head, so why not complete the picture?
