Recessional chic is the new black.

In fact, these economic times have created a breed of fashion followers known as Recessionistas: fashion followers who still want designer style but at a fraction of the price.

The successful fashion team behind Mooloolaba and Noosaville’s Zambezee boutiques is appealing to this new breed of fashion followers, with the opening this week of Designer Stockpile in Maroochydore’s CBD.

Co-owner Natalie Bedford said while there was still a strong demand for current season designer clothing through her Zambezee boutiques, she had seen a gap in the market for an outlet selling quality end-of-season designer labels.

“We (Natalie owns the boutiques with mum, Lorelei) have been travelling throughout Australia buying top-end designer labels to bring them to Designer Stockpile,” said Natalie.

“We source garments direct from the designer or from agents.  These are not seconds, just end-of-season designs, which we are able to bring to our customers at up to 90% off the original retail price,” she said.

Prices range from $25 through to $149 and sizing is available in sizes 6-16.

Feature lables include Versace Jeans Couture, Calvin Klein jeans, Tulipani, Twinset (Italy), Pianura Studio (Italy), Trent Nathan, Black Apple, Max Mara and many more.

“Some of the great buys currently include a Twinset leather skirt which was $999 and is now $99; Versace dresses that were $749 are now $99; Pianura Studio dresses that were $749 are now $69; and $599 handbags are now $79,” said Natalie.

Designer Stockpile is located in the Platinum Building on Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore. It opens to the public on Thursday, April 9.  A champagne and tapas preview will be held on Wednesday evening, April 8, from 5-9pm.  To RSVP or for more information, please phone Natalie on 0438 291044.
