Metalicus @ Soul Diva boutique
Fans of the label which gave us the concept of layering fashion way back in the ’90s gathered for a Metalicus spring fashion workshop night at Buderim boutique, Soul Diva.
New owner Sarah Roberts and familar face Di Pattenden welcomed everyone into the store for a night of inspiration courtesy of Metalicus’ Liv Mills who worked her styling magic on the latest spring 2008 drop from the label.
“It’s about layering, it’s about easy dressing and wardrobe essentials. In the days of throw-away fashion you know Metalicus will weather the storm,” says Liv.
Metalicus is a one-size fits all range and yes, I know many of you are shaking your head as you read this. But generally this is true.
I should know. I’m a size 14 and Metalicus is very much a part of my wardrobe. In fact some of my pieces go back to when I was pregnant. They are still in perfect condition and hold their shape.
The trick with finding pieces to suit your body shape is to play – and layer. Personally I like the wool ranges because the texture hides more lumps and bumps but I wouldn’t be without my cotton basics, either.
Another plus – the easy-care factor. Simply pop your Metalicus pieces in a lingerie bag, place in the machine, line dry and then wear. NO ironing.
Metalicus always delights with its new-season colour ways. Yes, black will always be there but this summer try on orange, cherry red, pale green or purple for size.
And if you need to alter the hem line on your purchase, the word from Liv is that you should use (or ask someone else to use!) a babylock rather than an overlock stitch.
