How to wear ankle boots seven different ways – autumn-winter 2017

Ankle boots are my go-to choice of footwear every autumn-winter.

They are always there for me. They just turn up and get on with the job of making my legs and my outfits look good.

I like that in a shoe. I like that indeed.

And ever since FRANKiE4 Footwear launched its first boot range three years ago, my ankle boot collection not only looks good, it’s SO, SO good for my feet and my legs as well.

There really is no need to sacrifice comfort for style.

This autumn-winter 2017 FRANKiE4 has taken that style factor up several notches. All FRANKiE4 boots now have a rounded toe – and this has been achieved without sacrificing fit at the forefoot.

The genius behind the brand is podiatrist and physiotherapist Caroline McCulloch. Being qualified in those two disciplines couldn’t be more optimal. EVERY piece in each FRANKiE4 Footwear shoe is designed by Caroline to meet her requirements as a qualified health professional. Each design is road-tested and trialled on everyday women (I’m one of them!) for months and months before a style gets the nod for production.

All FRANKiE4s feature a hidden, functional footbed for support and cushioning and each FRANKiE4 ankle boot (and active flat) comes with a custom fit pack, a drawstring bag filled with interchangeable footbed cushions that you can add or remove within the boot or active flat, adjusting as required for your foot width.

In some cases, I wear a different footbed in my left (bigger) foot from that of my right foot. I love that I can do that for maximum comfort. It’s a personalised comfort system but offered in a way that is easy to understand and make work for your own feet. Visit HERE to learn how to adjust the custom fit to suit your feet. The FRANKiE4 Footwear customer service team can also help you work out just what footbed cushions will work for your feet. Contact them HERE.

If you’ve ever put your soles into a pair of FRANKiE4 Footwear shoes, you know what I’m talking about when it comes to comfort. It’s next level and something I could not now sacrifice. If you’re still to experience the FRANKiE4 Footwear difference, then do your soles a favour. I’m incredibly proud to be ambassador for this brand.

If concerned about buying online, the customer service team is there to help you make a decision that works for your feet and your lifestyle. Call them first if you’re unsure. Phone 1300 721 898 or email info@frankie4.com.au. When buying, Australian standard shipping is free, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to exchange or return shoes provided they are in as-new condition and FRANKiE4 Footwear also covers return shipping. This applies to non-sale items only.

How to wear ankle boots seven different ways

Every year I’m asked for questions on how to style ankle boots. I don’t have any rules around fashion styling at all – except that you must to FEEL fabulous in what you’re wearing. These guideline or tips are ones that work for me – they may work for you too – or you may have your own interpretation. Experiment and go for it, I say.

1. Aim to show the ankle boot. Avoid having fabric flapping around them or your jeans’ leg hiding them. Get jeans altered to suit – or cuff them for a more streamlined look.

2.  To achieve a streamlined, ankle-boot-worthy look, you have three options: wear with either skinny or cuffed jeans, legging/tights or a frock/skirt with bare legs. Do this and the boot becomes an extension of your leg, lengthening it in the process (we very much like that). I show you how to wear ankle boots seven different ways featuring new FRANKiE4 Footwear styles below.

3. When building your boot-robe, start with a neutral colour – black or nude/tan – and build from there. Not sure which neutral to start with? If you wear a lot of black, start with black; wear a lot of colour, start with nude/tan. Wear a mix of black and colour? Have both in your boot-robe. I find with blonde hair that a tan works well for me. I can wear black too but the black designs that work best for me also include a tan or neutral heel. This helps keep a top-and-tail light balance to my outfits.

4.  Think about your lifestyle – what you get dressed for most days – to determine the heel height of our boots. FRANKiE4 Footwear’s heeled boots are comfortable for all day but if you are mostly running around after small children, then opt for a lower heel height for your first pair. Add in a heeled boot as your next purchase for occasions.

5.  Re boot cost, I say buy the best your budget can afford. Boots in a classic style will never date. Some actually get better with time. I also think that your feet and legs are worth looking after, so spending extra on a pair of boots that will look after your feet, is money well spent.

FRANKiE4 Footwear autumn-winter 2017 style tips

You are going to love what’s on offer this autumn-winter at FRANKiE4 Footwear. Below I’m featuring some of my fave ankle boot designs. The autumn-winter collection also includes the brand’s first brogue – the ALEX (these will be available in store and online about March 16) – named after Alex from blog, What The Teacher Wears. I already have an unhealthy obsession with the champagne-coloured pair. The full range of active flats is now also available. I feel like I’m cheating on my lovingly loyal ELLiEs but I’ve fallen hard for the NAT sneaker. And do not ask me to choose my favourite colour – I love the white, cream AND black/white.

JAZZ

Who: JAZZ is the new JAMiE. She’s got all of JAMiE’s versatility but with a new rounded-toe look and stylish lines. She has arch support – something most conventional flat boots do not have – and she’s the ideal boot for those on the go all day. JAZZ will never let you down.

Style with: skinny jeans (cropped or cuffed – pictured), maxi boho-style dresses, t-shirt dresses, shirt dresses, leggings and tunic tops

Wear to: travelling, school drop-offs, working from home, casual meetings, brunch, out to coffee, sporting sidelines

SALLi – tan and black

Who: SALLi is the new KELLiE. You won’t meet a more versatile dress-up/dress-down boot. SALLi’s style superiority lies with her low heel. It’s low enough to be on your feet all day but high enough to look dressed up for an evening out.

Style with: skinny jeans (cropped or cuffed), maxi boho-style dresses, t-shirt dresses (PICTURED – tan), sweater dresses (PICTURED – black) shirt dresses, leggings and tunic tops

Wear to: travelling, school drop-offs, working from home, casual meetings, brunch, out to coffee, night-time movie date

GEMMA – tan and black (available from March 16)

Who: GEMMA is the new VANESSA. I fell hard for VANESSA last year and found that she became my favourite heeled boot. GEMMA will very much follow in VANESSA’s footsteps (couldn’t resist that!). GEMMA’s heel height and angled shape, together with her cropped finish, make her an instant leg-flatterer.

Style with: shirt dresses (PICTURED – black); skinny jeans (cropped or cuffed), maxi boho-style dresses, boho-style knee-length dresses, structured work dresses, pencil or tube skirts, maxi skirts. If you’re a culotte kind of girl, this style works a treat.

Wear to: work, conferences, out to lunch, date nights

ASHLEY – black oily nubuck

Who: ASHLEY is the new LiZ and she’s super stylish to boot (there I go again!). You can stand in her 8cm heel for hours and you can rely on her to always have your back in the style stakes. Her tan heel balances out her sleek black good looks

Style with: skinny jeans (cropped or cuffed), maxi boho-style dresses, boho-style knee-length dresses, shirt dresses, pencil or tube skirts (pictured), maxi skirts

Wear to: work, conferences, out to lunch, nights out

IZZY – tan and gunmetal

Who:  IZZY is the new heeled boot on the FRANKiE4 block and it’s been love at first wear. She’s uber stylish and takes any outfit you wear her back with up about six notches. Legs are lengthened and heads will be turned in IZZY. I can never go past a light tan boot (hello blonde hair situation!) but check out IZZY in gunmetal. VA VA VOOM.

Style with: skinny jeans (cropped or cuffed – PICTURED tan), leather or pleather pants (PICTURED – gunmetal), maxi boho-style dresses, boho-style knee-length dresses, shirt dresses, pencil skirts, maxi skirts

Wear to: work, conferences, out to lunch, nights out

This photoshoot was shot on location at the beautifully revamped, art deco-style New Incholm Hotel and Suites, Brisbane. It’s a heritage-listed property that was once a doctor’s private residence. The current owner who bought the property in 1997 was also born there. He had a vision to create a New York-style, boutique hotel and that’s very much been achieved.

  • Sally Mac

No need to change the name – the Salli is perfect for this Sally. And just like Sally, Salli is a bit short, she’s a bit pale, but she’s mighty good looking.

  • Natalie

    The “Ashley” to the “Natalie”
    So I can walk happily
next my man who’s 6 foot tall,
With an 8cm heel I won’t feel so small
And my feet won’t be in agony

  • Cindy Thornton

Love the Jazz. If my soles are looked after my calves will stop aching.

  • Jodie-Lee Trembath

    Dear FRANKiE4, I’ve a simple request:
Please flatter my footsies and make me “best dressed”?
For currently, sadly, my footsies are dowdy,
So please could you rename your JAZZ boot to JODiE?

For “JODiE” in cognac and navy just oozes
The confident charm of a woman who cruises
Straight over life’s obstacles, très undeterred.
    A woman who’s fearless. A woman who’s heard.

The Canberra chill tells me autumn is here,
My broad, flattened hoofers do tremble in fear,
The ANU campus is so vast and wide,
I simply can’t take one more winter in stride!

This PhD student of limited means
Thus humbly asks you fulfil all her dreams
    Of orthotic comfort and style debonair;
A combination only found in FRANKiE4 Footwear!

  • I just “Must-have Salli!! Guess I better slow my must-haves down. Must-have Salli now baby, guess I better slow my must-haves down. I been riding all over town, guess I better put my flat feet on the ground (in a supportive pair of podiatrist designed Salli boots). All I want to do is ride around in Salli, Ride in Salli Ride. Yeah All I wanna do is ride around in Salli, Ride in Salli Ride”
Then you would have to rename them Louisa if I was always spotted riding my bike and walking all around my town in my gorgeous black Salli boots 🙂

  • The Salli in black should be renamed the Jules .
My soles need saving . For 5 days a week I run my feet ragged in my job as an Education support teacher. I’m busy working hard persuading businesses why they should give our wonderful teenagers a go in the workplace and how great would it be to wear these gorgeous boots while trying to conquer my little corner of the world and change people’s mindsets.

  • Belinda Briggs-Mckeough

The Jazz would be perfect for me,
A shoe to get me from A to B.
Something stylish while on playground duty,
These really would be the perfect beauty.
I’m known for doing a fab jazz hand,
And while wearing a fab shoe that is definitely not bland.
I really don’t think I could change the name,
The Belinda has already shot to fame.
I’d love to win these Frankie4
So my little tootsies won’t be so sore.

  • Rachel Lowe Sutton

IZZY gunmetal…They just look like they’d go with everything

  • Wendy Jarvis

Salli in tan should be renamed the Wendy! They have the perfect height heel – I can see myself running around after my 3 children in comfort, but with just enough heel to look stylish as I do!

  • Tam

The Salli in black should be renamed Tamara because Tamara could never find her name on any key rings, magnets or souveniers at the newsagent. I couldn’t see myself wearing these boots almost every day, I would wear them every day! Perfect for the hectic day to day life as a high school teacher and nights out at the theatre or with friends. I’d be thrilled to share my name with any of these fabulous boots!

  • Leah Watt

Izzy in Tan should be renamed Leah. I’m moving cities in April (to a colder climate) and these boots would be perfect to wear while exploring my new neighbourhood!

  • Lisa

Izzy in gunmetal should defs have my name!! Lisa!! I’m a teacher and on the go all day and FRANKIE4 make THE best boots! My feet will be comfy all autumn, winter and spring! Save my souls!

  • Libby

Jazz (love the tan) should be renamed
Libby but you’ve already used that name right? So I’d suggest LIZZIE instead. My old nickname Frizzy Lizzie. ❤️

  • Karene Atkinson

IZZY RENAMED TO KARENE. I can just picture myself wearing these boots everyday in winter..walking the dogs, shopping or just coffee with family or friends. I was introduced to Frankie4 shoes via Nikki’s blog and have purchased several pairs. THEY ARE SO COMFORTABLE. Well done FRANKIE4 you have the best shoes/boots/sandals.xx

  • KLM

    awake at first light
    the day ahead stretches long
    IZZY steps forward

A FRANKiE4 haiku…. which just so happens to still work beautifully when I rename IZZY to KERRiE.

  • Tanya Edwards

Jazz was once Jamie but they should be called Tanya
They’ve been My wish list for as long as I can remember
They’re for girls on the go that just can’t say no
I’ll pair them with rolled jeans and let their style show
My feet will be so happy that I’ll let the world know

  • Kim Vella

The IZZY should be the KIMMY. KIMMY would soothe my feet and keep me looking my best. I work in corporate and travel weekly. Stylish and comfortable is my motto, especially when running through airports and then needing to look my best at the other end!

  • Jenny Gawalski

I think SALLi should be renamed Jenny, it’s a boot that covers all needs. With a functional height heel and a smart look it would be suitable for any age (and ailment). Classy, classic, versatile and fantastic to wear a full day in absolute comfort, no matter what life threw at you. For me it’s a great height to look good despite a nagging knee injury. I’d love it in every colour but gun metal looks fun.

  • Theresa Hurley

SALLI is everything I am aiming to be. Stylish yet relaxed, elegant and timeless. I ‘m
on my feet all day and I know that Salli is one of the few girls that can keep me smiling for the whole day!

  • Di Hester

Izzi in gunmetal – as they are to “Di” for! – love those pants and the fur stole too

  • Kat

Save my sooooooles!! I’m a mum, teacher and wedding coordinator, and seem to spend all of my day and work on my feet! The gorgeous Salli boots would be perfect for all three of these roles – just call them the Kat Boots and they’d be PERFECT. I especially love the cute curved detail on the top of the boot, sweet!

  • Nikki Hogan

As someone who was overweight for years and had to stop wearing both boots and heels I am sure that Ashley is really Nikki as I venture back into both heels and boots at once after my 40 kilo weight loss.

  • Tracee Steele

Like me, the SALLi is versatile, practical and fun. As a high school teacher I am on my feet most of the day and my Frankie4’s have been my summer saviours. Now heading into A/W I need to cover the prettily painted toes and try to elongate my tired legs and feet with a stylish ankle boot. I think a rename to the TRACEe would be quirky and fun…like me.

  • Gabby Howlett

The ASHLEY which is the new LIZ should actually be the new GABBY!
I got these last year and they are by far the best 🙂 working all day as a working mum I can come home in these and not even think twice about taking them off as they are so comfy and stylish to boot 🙂

  • Eve

All Eve wants to do is ride around in SALLi! So it’s adios SALLi and Bon Jour Eve! This mummy is on maternity leave with number three and is struggling to appear human somedays. So a new boot, that’s the perfect height, may just encourage its owner to have a shower and whack on some deodorant and clean clothes. The Eve boot will no doubt save my tired from running after kidlets soles. Perhaps even my sanity.
    All mummas will covet Eve.

  • Carly Martin

Izzy should be renamed to Carli…it is simply just me!

  • Louise O’Connor

I would rename the SALLi to LOUIE…why? because I have been:

    Longingly

    Obsessing (over the)

    Unequalled

    Impressiveness

Each shoe is devine and would love to be mine!

  • Katherine Byrne

IZZY tan should be renamed Buff as she is in need of good footwear. After working for 20 years in retail my feet are starting to tell me something. You need good shoes! 2 years ago I developed Plantar Fasciitis and limped around for months, last year I developed Mortons Neuroma on my left foot and had to have 2 cortisone injections and currently have developed on the right foot. I have had my nude ankle boots for 3 years and in desperate need for new ones this year, so glad I stumbled across Frankie4. Would love to try a pair.

  • Renae

I would change the name Gemma to ‘Renae’, my soles are desperate to try out Frankie4footwear and how beautiful are these ankle boots for the cooler season.

  • Sally

I would rename the Gemma the Sally! Even though there is already a Salli. Which are completely gorgeous too! My soles need saving because I am a yr 2 teacher! It’s the best job in the world but I also love fashion. I want to look smart as I have just been made k-2 coordinator this year. I want to look more professional and I think the Gemma would definitely do that!

  • theobriens

The Izzy tan boot should be renamed to the Rhana boot, as it would be the most versatile footwear in my wardrobe, and would look perfect with literally every outfit I own. I will definitely wear them everyday! Also, my soles definitely need saving as I’ve recently been diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis, and suffer from pain in my arches and heels. I need to start wearing Podiatry recommended footwear and orthotics, but they are out of my price range. Since being diagnosed I’m not able to wear my old boots, so I’m worried I won’t have anything stylish to wear this winter.

  • nammiesgal

The Salli boot should be renamed to the Bianca boot as it’s so versatile and the heel height allows it to be dressed up or down. The Bianca boot can be worn everyday whether it be chasing after children who think the world is their playground or it can be worn to work or for casual dates with girlfriends/other halves. I can see the Bianca being worn with skinny jeans, midi skirts, wiggle dresses and of course, the fit and flare dresses too!

  • Tania Wells

Izzy should be renamed Tania the boot for all occasions especially in gunmetal where the Tania’s of the world dare to be different and step out in something other than black or tan. As a full timr oncology I nurse I have learnt to be able to care for others I need to care for myself also. Especially my feet when I’m on them for 14 hours some days.
    wells_2@bigpond.com

  • Deborah Littman

Perhaps SALLi should become DEBORAH or even DEBS for simplicity. Never being a short boot wearer I have unexpectedly fallen for the simple but stylish look of this boot. Beautifully made and incredibly classy, with multiple fashion uses within the UCW, and all existing wardrobes. The thought of wearing them with skinny jeans and a flowing shirt just seems so free and uplifting. Their structure with the small heel and great foot support would aid with good posture, and that always makes a woman feel special. I look forward to my first pair of FRANKiE 4’s, caring for my horrible sore feet and burning soles. Winning them would be a special bonus.

  • Jacky Burkett

It’s time for Izzy in gunmetal to become Jacky – its everyday but sophisticated class suits my lifestyle perfectly – throughout the cooler months they’ll take me from my office to client meetings to dinner with friends and I suspect even my daughter in law (who does modelling) will raise an eyebrow to show she’s a little impressed.

  • Tammy Hall

TAMMY would be the new ‘JAZZ’ – I have worn my old pair of ‘JAMiEs’ till they’re nearly dead and would love to update them to the new ‘JAZZ’ and they look fantastic.

  • Leisa

LEiSA would be the new JAZZ which is the new JAMiE which i own and have worn and worn. After their daily wear last winter and a recent trip to the snow JAMiE needs replacing. So comfortable and so gorgeous, who knew that shoes that are actually good for my foot could look like this good! By the way what do you recommend to wear under your boots [sockettes?]?

  • Gail Maree Birks

For comfort and style without fail,
I’d rename the SALLi to Gail.
They would keep me in running order,
    Looking good without the torture!

  • Shu-Ching Chang

“Gemma ” black ankle boots from FRANKiE4 Footwear has my attention, I would love to re-named “Moonlight Magic ” because Gemma boots has hidden support for maximum comfort experience. As a fan of Styling You , I really love Nikki’s how to wear ankle boots seven different ways -autum-winter 2017 blog . FRANKiE4 Footwear has famous thoughtful designed, allowing you to create and personalise every aspect of living because FRANKiE4 want everyone to love their feet and feel fabulous. A great experience to wear any FRANKiE4 Footwear .

  • Juanita Thorn

I adore the Ankle Boot in Izzy……the perfect boot for when I’m busy…..running here & there, my feet usually ache….but Izzy in Gunmetal will provide my feet a break……But Izzy surprises, with her hidden supports…..so my toes, heels & arches don’t feel out of sorts…..I’d love to rename Izzy, to Juanita, after me……’cos I’d be wearing these everyday to keep my feet happy. (nitatorr@gmail.com)

  • Rebecca Ingham

There is a lovely boot called SALLi,
Which will hopefully accompany me to the Rhine Valley.
Adventuring to Paris, London and Greece.
The SALLi is sure to give my feet a little bit of peace.
No rest for my feet on a tour bus like TopDeck,
This is why SALLi should be re-named the Bec!

I’d love the SALLi to be re-named the Bec! I’ll be adventuring all over Europe in April and want a stylish, comfortable travel companion to accompany my capsule wardrobe (Which I’ve designed after scouring though all of the Styling You capsule wardrobe posts!) When I return I can see the ‘Bec’ being staple teaching footwear as I run around after 28 six-year-olds!

  • olgazolga

I would like to see Gemma renaimed to Olga. Because what other pair of black boots would help me stay away from being frumpy during my fith pregnancy, when my foggy cloggy brain is ordering my body to embrace all things frump.

  • I’d love to see the ASHLEY renamed the TONILE for all my fabulous flat-footed females out there! They are the women who will know of the struggle to find stylish footwear to keep our flat feet feeling fine, and this boot is the solution to our problems. The TONILE will take wearers from day to night effortlessly without arch pain, and in black oily nubuck comfort has never looked so good.

(Thanks for the chance to win, Nikki!)

  • Lisa Bishop

The SALLI for sure! I struggle to find shoes that I can wear both at work and with my casual wardrobe because I work in a corporate office. The SALLI fits the bill exactly! I know that I would they will suit my work attire and my autumn/winter capsule, while providing great support for my wide feet and very high arches.

  • Michelle S

I would love the SALLI boot in black to be renamed for me. My soles definitely need saving – as I have a foot injury and my physio has recommended shoes with arch supports – she specifically suggested Frankie4 so new boots would not only save my soles but my ankle as well!

  • Wendy

I love the SALLI boot. I teach young children and am on my feet a lot. I can feel how comfy and versatile these boots would be in my wardrobe. I could wear them to work and still look stylish if I go out straight from work.

  • Sarah Broad

i Love the SALLi and would love them to become the start of my Boot Robe, and with the styling tips Nikki offers for outfits they would be the perfect finish to almost all of my daily outfits. my soles are just recovering from Plantar Fascitis and so im being very careful about what i wear on my feet and think FRANKiE4 Footwear might be the saving grace i need in my life to keep me on my feet.
i also think Julia Maaslands poem below is just great and made me have a chuckle goodluck with the husband caving lol

  • Jenny Fitzpatrick

Love the Izzy Gunmetal and Nikki you wear them beautifully. I already have 4 pair of Frankie4’s – the only shoes that get an outing these days. My feet love me for it and I love the comments I get wherever I go. Gunmetal Jens would be a good name for them.

  • Julia Maasland

I need some SALLi boots in my life,
My feet are sore and full of strife.

    Toddling behind a hurricane boy,
Havaiana’s all winter, where is the joy?

With shoes that don’t fit as my trouble,
Help get me out of this boring mum bubble.

It is time to grow up and find some style,
With beautiful boots that will go the mile.

A billion hints, but hubby not caving,
My poor, flat feet DESPERATELY need saving!

  • Kay Reid

ASHLEY Black Oily Nubuck should be named after me as I’m “meals on heels” as a medical rep! I wear my heels out fast pounding the pavement.

  • Kate Trethewey

KATE is kicking it around Canberra this season in the boots formerly known as IZZY in Gunmetal. It’s a serious thrill to be wearing these slick, standout heels that no one guesses are oh so comfortable!

  • kathy clark

Gemma , should be renamed Kathy , as i would wear, Frankie Kathys, everyday, basically live in them

  • Frances Maitland

I would love the SALLiE renamed the FRANNiE. I recently returned from Machu Pichu where I wore my silver ELLiEs and was complemented by our guide on my walking and my style! He kept saying ‘Frannie’s amazing shoes !’ Seriously FRANKiE4 are my absolute go to shoe for comfort. I love them and really need a boot to help me on my next adventure. I want style along with the comfort a FRANKiE shoe gives me.

  • Nat

Natalie tan is the new Izzy tan. Her busy two feet that are forever flying, deserve to be always hip and stylin’. A Mum to two cherubs who keep her busy on her feet, in a pair of Natalie tans she would never admit defeat. Longing to feel both the comfort and style, she spends long hours on her feet as she walks many miles. But in a job in fashion the shoes will most suit, looking fabulous from head to even her toes with her boots. She will be constantly asked “where did you find such fabulous treads?!” to which she will reply “to FRANKiE4 Footwear you must head.”

  • Holly Mepham

The ASHLEY should be renamed the HOLLY as these boots are for me! I am now working in a workplace where enclosed footwear is a must and this would fit the bill as I would be able to rock some gorgeous heels without going against the rules!

  • Donna Lovelock

The IZZY gunmetal should be renamed DONNA gunmetal. They are exactly what I need in my life right now, I’ll be able to start my new job in style!

  • Tanya Scott

SOS…my soles need saving! I go dizzy, thinking about IZZY in all her gorgeous tan….which is why she should be re-named “Tan-ya”, because she is tan and ya all know how gorgeous she is x

  • Sue Kay

Ooh Salli should become Suzy!! The tan shoes would be just ideal for my busy lifestyle and look so elegant on all occasions.

  • Bianca

SALLi should be renamed BiANCA. Why?
    Because
    I’ve
    Always
    Needed
    Cute
    Ankle boots!

  • Cat

The latest in the range the CATTi, formerly SALLi. While Catti may make it sound harsh and nasty, nothing could be further from the truth- it would be soft and supple, caressing ones feet, providing support while still looking fabulous. The perforated back making it a must have in my wardrobe.

  • Liz

I love to see SALLi renamed LiZ. I need a pair of stylish boots that can be worn all day whilst I’m on my feet teaching (the girls judge everything we wear) or running around after my toddlers!

  • Vanessa

I can see myself wearing the Salli everyday for school drop off and pick up. I would have to rename it Vanessa. I like the fact that they have already had a shoe called Vanessa as it’s not a very common name. My podiatrist has recommended better fitting shoes so these would be perfect

  • SALLi needs to be renamed SHANNOn so I can wear them everyday through Autumn/Winter to my corporate-but-creative office where after 8 years I still struggle with the dress code!

  • Kylie T

The Izzy Tan or ideally Kylie is ankle boot art
Beautifully intrinsic expressionism – always part
Of a stylishly creative, ambient flair
To let women showcase and dare to bare
Shoes that save sole’s, ‘mine’ yes please
As fashion everyday will be a breeze
Treasure to wear my heart on my sleeve
With comfort these tootsies never, ever want to leave.

  • Sandra J

Sandy is the new Salli. The tan goes with my light coloured hair and my colourful wardrobe. Perfect for work, school duties and coffees.

  • lorexstevex

Jazz should become the Laura because I have flat feet and I need support that still looks stylish!

  • Joyce

Izzy Gunmetal should be renamed to Joyce Gunmetal because I’d feel smokin’ hot wearing them!

  • Monique W

The Izzy should be renamed the Monique because they’re stylish and practical and definitely not ordinary. Life is too short to have uncomfortable feet, and the Monique lets you have the best of both worlds; comfort and fabulousness at the same time!

  • Kerrie Tibbits

Izzy Gunmetal to be renamed Kerrie Donna Gunmetal as these boots are a saviour for my high arches.
my feet require only the best of support and comfort as they carry me on my journey in life.

  • Mel

SALLi could be renamed MELLi for sure. These boots ARE mine, perfect for work, perfect perfect for weekends, perfect perfect perfect for my big sore feet. I would, of course, then need to buy that awesome grey marle dress you have paired with the black MELLi, oh I mean SALLi, where can I find that dress? Should I get it now, in anticipation of a MELLi delivery? Please MELLi be mine, I mean SALLi (but I think I just heard you call them MELLi…?)

  • Andieharrie

GEMMA in black who are you?
To ‘ADRIENNE’ the wearer of this lovely shoe
Sorry Gemma i have the rename
I’d wear you out, you’d never be the same
You see Gemma, i love your style,
Stealing your identity to my feet would make me smile

  • Jane Buchanan

Oh SALLi with her stylish perforated detail should definitely be re-named JANe ALICe all the way, JANe ALICe on her way to wonderland! My tootsies would be dancing all day, everyday in her soft supportive embrace…match made in heaven ❤️

  • Shelly

I would love to switch Salli to Shelly. I can see myself sliding seamlessly into these stylish shoes! They would surely be my Shelly staples!!

  • Nicole Boxsell

I would change the Izzy to the Nicole! I love a ankle boot and gunmetal grey omg stylish much!! I love ankle boots no knee highs for me the ankle it is. I can’t wait for cooler weather to get the boots out and I’d love to try a pair of FRANKiE4 boots. I get pain in my heels and I’d love to experience the sheer comfort of these boots!

  • Belinda Rose

Meet the BELINDA, formerly known as IZZY. Oh, but it’s just a dream, albeit a happy one. This teacher would absolutely love to wake to find herself wearing a pair of stylish new Frankie4 boots into the classroom. Maybe I can be a Daydream Believer…..? 🙂 🙂

  • Elke Lushington

The Salli should be renamed Elkie, elegant, comfortable & conformable to my poor sore footsies

  • Miss Bek

Be still my beating heart, ASHLEY must become REBEKAH! Too many times have I wasted my money on ‘comfortable’ boots only to end the day with my poor toes being crushed and my arches screaming in pain. No more! I vow to treat my feet to only the best. FRANKiE, save my soles (and my soul) from agony!

  • Rita Maguire

After much SOLE searching, a TOES to the winner SALLi,. The greatest FEET imaginable would be for them to be renamed RITA. As a teacher, I need to walk a million miles on playground duty, which keeps me on my toes but the SHOE must go on!

  • Denise McMillan

While I ADORE the gunmetal IZZY, SALLi is the gal for me! Those tan babies would never leave my feet. I have big feet and bad knees so comfort is very important! How lovely to have such style as well. DeNISE is the perfect replacement name for SALLi 🙂

  • Michelle

Oh SALLi you belong to me,
You’re up to the demands of my busy family.
Just like the Guns N Roses song you’d become “My Michelle”,
Show me that cushioning and comfort I hear my soles yell!
A footy mum that also needs that ongoing support,
From the sidelines my emotions run wild of this contact sport.

  • Sally

Since there’s already a SALLi all I can ask is for the divine tan IZZY to become SALLY!

  • Michelle

    Oh SALLi youbelong to me,
You’re up to the demands of my busy family.
Just like the Guns N Roses song you’d become “My Michelle”,
Show me thatcushioning and comfort I hear my soles yell.
A footy mumthat also needs that ongoing support,
From thesidelines my emotions run wild of this contact sport.

  • Susan Masters

The Ashley should be renamed the suezy! I’m a nurse and always on my feet, my soles need a break!

  • Susan

Izzy could be renamed Susan as I would wear it everywhere! As a new mum who is constantly on my feet, my soles definitely need saving.

  • Mel

SALLi could be renamed MELLi for sure. These boots ARE mine, perfect for work, perfect perfect for weekends, perfect perfect perfect for my big sore feet. I would, of course, then need to buy that awesome grey marle dress you have paired with the back MELLi, oh I mean SALLi, where can I find that? Should I get in now, in anticipation of a MELLi delivery? Please MELLi be mine, I mean SALLi (but I think I just heard you call them MELLi…?)

  • Lorna M

In a Salli ankle boot, I’ll be looking my best
Trendy and stylish boots to impress
Yet comfy with the support my feet needs
From dashing around at super speeds

  • Katie Francis

Definitely the Gemma, being a teacher I need to look professional but need to be comfortable and the Gemma ticks all those boxes. Plus I could wear it out. This boot would be my go to boot for all occasions. Go the Katie!!!!

  • Catherine Sheridan

I would choose the Salli! Very stylish and at 5ft10 I appreciate a shorter heel at times! Great for everyday wear too both day and night.

  • Christine

JAZZ have my name all over them. I am tall(ish) so love the heel height and my feet have high arches so the inner sole support has my feet singing “fabulous!” These gorgeous boots would take me from work to social outings and look perfect with so many of my outfits. Picking a colour would be the most difficult decision for me.

  • Celia

The SALLi have to be my pick! I’m desperate to get out of frumpy mum mode. These boots will at least make me look good from the knees down, right?!

  • Bron Lawson

I would in a jump choose Salli to be renamed Bron Boots. Mother of two boys, to have gorgeous, stylish boots like these would be a dream. Thanks Nikki and Frannkie4 🙂

  • Marie Gardner

Definitely Ashley Black oily nubuck which looks divine & so versatile. These gorgeous black boots would go with most of my autumn winter wardrobe. These look dressy enough to wear to any occasion but would also work perfectly with my skinny jeans.i love a bit of a heel on my winter boots as I am short & need a little help with height to lengthen my legs! I do have trouble finding comfortable boots & shoes due to my problematic feet especially my bunions but I know that Frankie4 shoes are the most comfy shoes on the market so would be able to wear these for hours without any discomfort.

  • Therese Brooker Arnold

Luv the Gemma (Therese) !!! Sounds good and will make a great go to work boot !!!

  • Kiersten Ross-Sampson

    S Stylish
    A Attractive
    V Vital for any wardrobe
    E Exciting

    M Made for my souls
    Y Yes I love them!

    S Super gorgeous
O Oh how I would love to win!
    U Unbelievably comfy
    L Lovely
S Slip out of Izzy Tan and into the new Kiersten.

  • Sara

I would choose the Salli to be renamed Sara. I feel that this would be the perfect “first” boot in a wardrobe and I am currently searching for my first ever pair of boots. I have been searching for the last three boot seasons but am so weary, intimidated and nervous about making the first step into boots. Last year I was so close to purchasing, but right at that moment I chickened out! I’d really love a pair and think this style would be great for me as it’s simple and classic style that could be worn with many outfits at so many different places. I love that it has a heel but it’s not too high.

  • Petra

I like the SALLi and the dresses you’re wearing with them. Very nice styling and photographs. You look amazing in all the pics and thanks for sharing – I’m going to get some ankle boots this winter (first time in 20 years) as I like the way you’ve styled them with a dress (I’m a dress girl)!

  • Joni

The Jazz should be renamed the Joni as I’d wear that every day. I stand/walk all day in my job so need a flat boot that looks professional, Jazz is perfect!

  • jayla1987

The jazz should be named the Jess because I’m a boots girl especially flat ones

  • Megan K

IZZY pfft more like MeGAN my soul and soles need saving from horrible footwear so I can focus on my work and family rather than sore feet!

  • Oooh WHERE is that top from in your last pic? You look so amazing. The whole outfit rocks!

  • Lesley Hughes

Izzy in gunmetal is the shoe of dreams being so versatile and would be at home in any occasion. To call it LESLEY is pure ego, but then again, why not?

  • Antoinette

How Devine is the gun metal Izzy Boot… or should I say The Toni Boot!
Like that other Toni (Colette)… stylish with a little rock chick these boots say that & more!!!
I hope to be like yet another famous Toni, Toni (Lamond) aka Lolly-Legs Lamond because she was known as having the best looking legs on television in her time!!!
Wearing Izzy … oops i mean “The Toni” would give me the best looking legs of all time !!!

  • Sally T

The Salli is perfect for me & doesn’t need renaming. I do endurance events and my feet need all the help they can get after I put them through their paces with stupidly long runs before work! The existing FRANKiE4’s are spectacular – just need to win my winter version please

  • Bec scarrratt

The Salli needs to be renamed the Becky as after 3 months in an airboot due to torn ligaments/ broken ankle combo I can only dream of feeling gorgeously stylish leather boots against my skin!

  • Magalli (aka Mags)

The SALLi ankle boot should be renamed MAGS because I can definitely see myself wearing it almost everyday. I’d pair it with the indistinguishable indicator of a mum with a young child – a pram! Not to mention some nice fitting jeans and beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry to show a relaxed, yet considered look. The heel height is prefect for mummy chores (also have 3.5 yr old) but high enough to add style. I’m sick of compromising comfort for style, my soles really need some TLC – off the shelf arch / heel support just doesn’t cut it and custom made orthotics ($500 thank you very much) are so wide you can’t fit them into any decent looking shoe, so I’ve been going without support for years wondering why orthotics and style couldn’t join forces – until I discovered FRANKiE4 footwear via Styling You. Admittedly I’m a FRANKiE4 virgin, so pop my cherry! 🙂

  • Bonita Seymour-Smith

First came KELLiE then was SALLi next to be BONNiE. My souls need saving by these ankle boots for go to everyday style meets comfort wear.

  • Tashy Leonard

Two crap ankles I do have
Three ops later they only just work
Oh the relief of wearing Frankie4s
What did I do before? (I found them)
I love the sight of Izzy in gunmetal Grey
Call them Tashy and they’ll be here to stay!

  • Elizabeth

The Jazz must become the Lizzie. Not the current pinched toed Lizzie who sneaks her shoes off in the classroom and as soon as she gets home but the newly saved, all over Autumn Lizzie.

  • Charlie Clarke

It is just a hop, skip and a jump Salli
    to become the fabulous Charli(e)
Adventures await with you in tow
Most magnificent is your rounded toe!

  • Marnie

The Ashley needs to be a Marnie. It is as perfect for the school run, as it is for the office. And that’s my life!

  • Danielle Armstrong

Oh the IZZY gunmetal is simply divine!
I love a good heel, my back not so much. Unfortunately for my back, fashion usually wins.
I need these in my life so I can love my heels and my back!
Naturally they will need to be renamed the DANi
Don’t worry about any potential copyright issues. These shoes, like me, are so fabulous they only need one N!!

  • Sandra

The sight of IZZY makes me dizzy so I’m keen to make them mine!
So let’s just call them SANDY and then all will be fine!! 🙂 xx

  • Sharyn

    Smart and sexy
    Always setting the trends
    Love the tan SALLi
    Luxury for your feet
I need SALLi in my life

  • KT

IZZY in gunmetal should definitely be renamed to KATiE! I need some sexy but supportive boots to get me through the pain of plantar fasciitis. If I was wearing those, I’d forget the pain for sure…

  • Karen Keating

I think the GeMMA must have been a KaReN is a previous life & should go back, because she looks like the perfect mix of heel height and casual, but still able to be dressed up. My soles can’t wait to tip their toes in there. In LoVE!

  • Theresa watson

The new Izzy should be renamed to Theresa, because just like St Theresa, these boots will be saving souls one step at a time!

  • The SALLi Tan should be called, The Plumbette because I’d look ‘svelte’ in those beauties!! I could definitely see myself wearing them all day, everyday. Love all the outfit photos and boots Nikki. I’m getting excited about Autumn and Winter. 🙂

  • mhclm

Someone beat me to it by telling how well Frankie4 served her at the recent Adele concert. I wore my silver Ellie’s for the first time (it was a bit of a gamble) even though we decided to walk all the way from our hotel in the CBD to the Gabba and back. They were great, no pain, no blisters, no breaking in. Just great quality, groovy looking footwear! Now saving up for the gorgeous Frankie4 Jazz boots in black. They look gorgeous and would just love to wear them to my next outing!!

  • Susan

OMG….love the Gunmetal! I can’t afford Frankie4 footwear but it is my birthday coming up and am considering splashing out and using Afterpay to get them. My soles need saving because I am almost 41, work full time and about to be a surrogate mum for a lovely couple who were total strangers before i looked into surrogacy. Hoping these boots would be comfortable all day at work but also something i could wear out at night too. Obviously have to call them the SUZE.

  • Sarah-Jane Docking

Thank goodness for Nikki and Styling You; as a mum in my early forties, my two young girls heading into early school years, I now find myself wondering where to from here? Time for the next phase of my life – body and spirit needing a little TLC and attention, not wanting or needing the same life and style as my thirties. Nikki’s fabulous uplifting outlook and blog always hits the mark, and introducing frankie4u footwear is one of her best examples. Reading this article I immediately started daydreaming about what, when and how the tan SALLi fits right in with my new goals. Oh the pure joy a new, perfect pair of shoes can bring!

  • Thanks so much! x

  • Michelle

Hello! I love the SALLi – both colours.

Shoe shopping I have but one goal
To find a good looking shoe with good sole
    To deal with plantar fasciitis,
My shoe choice will need to be righteous
So my feet will feel good as I stroll.

    FRANKIE4 footwear is hot
Will it hurt my feet more? I think not!
For this brand that I favour
    Their style does not waver
And their comfort I do love a lot.

  • Dear JAMiE I have wonderful news for you; you have a baby sister. I love you dearly and we have had so much fun this past two years. I have always wanted a daughter who I hope will be your best friend and I am sure you will understand if I call her JAN (they got a bit mixed up at the hospital and put the name SALLi on her cot, but I have that sorted out now).
So let’s celebrate and head off to Europe, all 3 of us, do lots of walking and take lots of photos we can share with our family and friends on social media. Maybe we will take your cousin ELLIE as well.
I know you can’t wait for JAN to be home with us, I can’t either!

  • Robyn Jokic

Love the new boots, I purchased the Margie tan/champagne last week and wore them to the Adele concert, I was a little worried as they were new but off I went armed with band aid’s, I danced the night away with the rest of the 65 thousand fans and walk the streets like I was walking on cloud 9, so comfy and didn’t need a band aid at all. Hmm changing the Salli to Robyn just doesn’t sound appealing so I combined my first and middle names together (Robyn Anne) and came up with Robynne!

    • Yay for MARGiE serving you well at Adele!

    • Robyn Jokic

Instead of Robynne I would change the name Salli to Ally 🙂

  • I love the SALLi in tan – I bought a pair of low-heeled tan ankle boots last year and wore them to death. They were my first pair of non-black boots and I wore them with dark denim jeans, distressed shorts, floaty sundresses, mini skirts….
The low heel makes me feel a bit sassy and being an ankle boot they won’t fall off when running after small humans (unlike ballet flats!). Plus, I love a closed-toe option that I can wear with summer outfits when my pedicure is looking a bit worse for wear. Rename the SALLi the MADDiE!

  • Monica

Nikki, where is that delicious striped T-shirt dress you’re wearing on the bicycle from? Please spill the beans! I’m so in love with all of these boots that I’ll have to go away and think about which ones should be named after me 😉

  • Rebecca

I have always loved ankle boots, but thought they werent for me, as I am curvy and short, however I think you have opened my eyes. The salli and the gemma both finish at a very flattering point on the ankle which is one of my best features, I am really excited that such beautiful looking shoes could be good for your feet. Its tough to choose but I think the salli should definately become the Rebecca – a classic for everyday.

  • Sharon Trinder

The Izzy Tan can change to the Shazzy Tan and a dancing we will go, with both comfort and speed.

  • sue

Introducing The Suze! (Formerly known as the Salli Black)
The balanced mix of business and mum, with a side of rock n roll. Perfect for school drop off, days working or nights on the dance floor watching live music. My feet (& style) will thank you!

  • Jasmin

The tan IZZY made me dizzy and has me in a tizz, would love to have a pair of these, my outfit would look the biz.

Sorry thought I’d try a bit of rhyming poetry and alas I’m not good at it. In all seriousness the Izzy is my fave; I would have suggested renaming it Jazz (since my name is Jasmin) but there is already another gorgeous pair of boots with that name.

  • Brian N Joanne Morris

P.S. I just purchased my first pair of Ellie’s! Woo hoo!

  • Brian N Joanne Morris

The SALLi should be re-named JOANNE as this style fits me to a t! It ticks all the boxes for looking classy and being supportive for my odd feet! They would complement my wardrobe and take me from day to night! Perfection!!

  • Naomi Bowden

The ASHLEY should be renamed NAOMI. As a mum to a very energetic almost-three-year-old and expecting twin girls in under two months, it’s so important that I can keep my wardrobe updated and stylish whilst running around after 3 girls this coming winter!! The extra support provided in the ASHLEY will help me get out of my NATS, which I love, and back into my number one shoe of choice: a heel, without compensating on comfort!

  • merilyn

thankyou nikki for your always helpful hints and tips!
    a great photo shoot hun!
I love a flat ankle boot! … sometimes I have trouble with the length of pant!!! annoying!
i’m always turning over or something! … more pants maybe!:)) no i’m minimalizing things!
anyhoo I always wear boots of all lengths in winter! … they are my staple!
i’m looking for a tan ankle boot at the moment and the jazz looks good to me!
    enjoy your day!
    much love m:)X

  • lovestodance

I would love to see the Ashley rebranded as the Babette – my name is Barbara. I am a busy woman who is having more fun with style in her sixties than her forties, and I could work this black boot back with jeans, my favourite transeasonal dresses and then with a pencil skirt and vintage beaded cardi for a dinner out. Plus, I have discovertebral disease, and it is so hard to find stylish footwear that is good for the feet and back without blowing the monthly budget. So please, Frankie Footwear, bring on the Babette and you’ll have good fortune 4evr!

  • Karen

The SALLi boots should be renamed to my name KAREN! I love the heel height of these boots, it makes them so versatile to be able to dress up or down and comfortable to wear all day for work. I like the style of the boots near the ankle and the detail on the heel of the boot adds something extra to them – it was love at first sight with these boots! I work in an office so they would be perfect for work with a dress and leggings or ponte pants and I would wear them with jeans and a shirt or tunic on the weekends. Both colours look nice but I’d get them in black as that would work in with most of my work wardrobe. I have ELLiE, MARGiE and LAUREN in my wardrobe so I think it’s time to get a pair of boots! Great competition, thanks!

  • Elizabeth

What a choice! They are all good. I love the grey cardigan/duster you are wearing with Salli

    • That’s from Sassind.

      • Elizabeth

Me again. Can you believe it? Ordered the cardigan Wednesday and it arrived at my place in Brisbane, on Thursday. It’s so soft and just what I was looking for. I love your blog ’cause it shows so many lovely things to investigate!
Now, I wouldn’t mind the gunmetal “Lizzy”
(no longer Izzy) to go with the cardigan. I turn 60 in April and they would be a marvellous present for my well worn feet. Comfort and style to go. Thanks Nikki

  • Jenny MacKenna

The Jazz should be renamed the Jennifer. I recently broke an ankle and it is important that l wear shoes that offer the best support. The “Jennifer” would take me through rehab and beyond styled with a Boho dress, skinny jeans and skirts.

  • Kerrie Ralston

Wow that’s a hard decision! Being a ’60 + is the new 40 ‘ still working and hands on Nanna , and not one of a small frame, I’m loving the look of the super comfy look of Jazz! ‘Kez’ would so compliment to a renamed Jazz!

  • Kylie

As a stay at home mum, running around after energetic 4 & 2 yr olds, JAZZ. in the cognac navy are definitely the most beautiful pair of ‘practical’ shoes I’ve seen! Love, love, love!

  • Kat

I must say the new Izzy in gunmetal grey has really caught my eye. I can see myself wearing her with my skirts/dresses with tights throughtout Winter in Melbourne.

  • Amie

For me it would be ASHLEY – as a new mum I need a boot that is comfortable but still helps me to find some style! I’ll be wearing her with leggings and my favourite maxi tube skirts.
Hopefully autumn comes to Queensland soon!!!

  • Lisa Mckenzie

For me it would have to be the SaLLi in tan, just enough heel to be dressed up and not too high to be uncomfortable, she’d go with dresses, skinny jeans and leggings such a gorgeous versatile boot!

  • Tracey

Now that was just plain “mean”. Here I was feeling smug as I do not need any new boots this year, but then I saw the SALLi in the black…oh so stunning. And next came the beautiful ASHLEY….oh so super super soft and sexy. And then my heart stopped at the gunmetal IZZY. I tend to be a skinny leg jeans and boots sort of girl, as really struggle to know what to wear “in” the boot (socklet?) when wearing a dress. Think I need to get myself some of those pleather pants too.

    • I don’t tend to wear anything in the boot Tracey – personal choice – and not so cold wear I live. Otherwise a socket would work.

    • Tracey I wear a socklet in my ankle boots whether with jeans or a dress, it works well for me.

  • Kathryn

Hi Nikki, I loved reading this! The thought of weather cool enough to wear boots, feels like a dream still. Gorgeous photos too. The Incholm looks beautiful, and what a story behind it. I would love a pair of the SALLi in tan, I can see myself wearing them constantly. I am loving the KAT sandals I bought last month, next on my list is a pair of NAT in cream, then maybe the SALLi, Actually I would love them all! x

    • It does feel like a dream! But I’ll start wearing my boots now with bare legs, dresses and skirts (because I like a change!)
