Everyday style outfits of the week

Such a diverse week on the #everydaystyle front, don’t you think?

The crazy weather offering up extremes from one end of the country to the other was certainly an influencer. As were Australia Day parties and gatherings.

For me, it was back to school and back to a more regular work-at-home routine after nearly eight weeks. I’m truly grateful that I started this challenge before school finished because I’m now well and truly in the habit of thinking about my outfits every day now.

It might seem such a small thing but to me it’s a big thing. I know if I look “put together” then I feel put together and I’m more likely to get things done.

Does that makes sense?

Anyhoo … continuing on with this week’s round-up. Thanks so much for playing along. I hope you feel the same way.

SY #everydaystyle (the outfit you liked the most)

It seems those Country Road utility pants keep on pleasing not just me – but you too (the outfit I feature here each week is the one that you gave the most likes to on Instagram). So glad I bought them. They’re like magic pants – comfy and flattering. How is that even possible?

I have a very similar pair of pants from Temt (as CR sold out in my size) and wore them to work one casual Friday. My boss called me ‘pyjama lady’. Never again! I thought I was looking so stylish and on trend :(

    • http://www.thefashionablemum.blogspot.com.au/ Vicki | The Fashionable Mum

Oh, how horrible! He obviously knows nothing about style! I wear lots of loose pants now and they’re so perfect when it’s hot. I love those chambray ones of Nikkis.

  • Nic

  • Sonya

Hi Nikki, when I click on the instragram links below the pics above it just goes to a blank page – do I have to sign onto intragram to view them?

    • http://www.stylingyou.com.au/ Nikki | Styling You

Oh my Sonya, I don’t know what’s happened. I’m going to go in and try and link them all again … try again soon.

  • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

They all look gorgeous but I would have to go with Claire – great dress and perfect with those flat yellow sandals. Love it!

Also, I love those pants on you Nikki and wish I could find something similar. I tried the CR ones on in store and they were heinous on me! The eternal search for flattering pants continues!

    • Cwooka

I know how you feel Vanessa, I tried on the CR pant a while ago too and I couldn’t get them off fast enough!! Let us know where you find the elusive pant

      • http://www.stylingyou.com.au/ Nikki | Styling You

Just commented on Vanessa’s comment – these pants had to be tried down a size or two – I can’t believe that they suit both my 17YO daughter and me.

      • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

Will do, but in the meantime, I am wearing frocks and skirts. I picked up a flattering pair of shorts at Sussan though. May the force be with us Cwooka!

        • Cwooka

Hi Vanessa, I have tried on and purchased the chambray pants from portmans http://www.portmans.com.au/shop/en/portmans/bottoms/bottoms-pants/chambray-soft-pant they are on sale at the moment (winning), and they just seem to be a little less tapered on the leg (more forgiving). I hope they work for you too! I was keen to find a pair that would work for me as I always admire Nikki’s :)

          • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

Oh thanks Cwooka, I’ll check them out. Yes, a less tapered look would be better for me. I love harem pants for this reason! x

    • http://www.stylingyou.com.au/ Nikki | Styling You

I hope you tried down a size or two than normal Vanessa – that was the key for me!

      • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

Nikki, I tried my usual size (12) but had the usual problem – gaping at waist and a bit too firm for my liking on the thighs. This why I love frocks!!

    • Lisa Mckenzie

Vanessa try the Glassons or Sussans ones I have the Glassons ones and they are so comfy and look great x

      • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

Thanks Lisa. I did see the Sussan ones but was a little gun shy! I’ll have another look though on your recommendation.

    • Nic

Vanessa, I have these pants and I have to admit it took a little while to convince myself. I’m used to a closer fit on my bottom half and looser up top, and these pants definitely qualify as loose! I hate that potato-sack-all-over look, but find I’m often wearing something sleevless up top which restores some definition again. Other than that, they are relaxed and very informal so I don’t worry about it and give in to the whole loose-all-over thing. If you’d like really comfy pants with some definition, I’ve been loving ones from Metalicus. x

      • http://www.styleandshenanigans.com/ Vanessa

Thanks Nic! I’ll check out the Metalicus ones. I agree with the dilemma of what to wear up top to avoid sack factor. Sleeveless/fitted/scoop neck seem to work best for me. x
