Make cancer a word not a sentence
Megan Gale has joined forces with L’Oreal Paris as their public face in the fight against ovarian cancer. In Australia, one woman dies every 10 hours of this devastating disease, so together Megan and L’Oreal are working to raise awareness and funding for an early detection test. Host a high tea to raise some much-needed money whilst catching up with your girlfriends at the same time. Every cent counts. House on the Prairie
Who says sleepwear needs to be boring? Certainly not House on the Prairie with their quirky, playful designs that mix art and design to re-define the idea of what we wear to bed. Creative director Emily McIntyre says: “we are dedicated to challenging the banality of fashion, harnessing art and design as well as constructing concepts that are new and undiscovered”. By collaborating with local artists, the label delivers original prints with pieces that are constructed with organic fabric. Who doesn’t want to add something that’s bright and playful to the bedroom?
50 Shades at Target
Still on the topic of bedroom attire, Target has just announced a new range of lingerie entitled the 50 Shades of Grey collection. Following the hotly anticipated announcement of the movie leads last week, this range is styled on pieces that Christian Grey gives to Anastasia. You’ll find the full collection online and instore from September 26. Ranging in price from $15 to $49 we can all add a little 50 Shades to our wardrobe.
Australian Indigenous Fashion Week
It’s always wonderful to see new designers and their pieces being showcased. There was certainly a buzz in the room when Mia Brennan and Grace Lillian Lee were selected as two of 16 Australian Indigenous designers to participate in the inaugural AIFW Design Training and Mentoring Program. The two were incredibly excited to share their cultural stories via their contemporary designs to the fashion industry. We’re sure these two are ones to watch in the future as AIFW is set to become an annual fixture on the local fashion calendar.
