As the rain poured down on my parents’ tin roof early Boxing Day morning, I breathed a temporary wardrobe and hair sigh of relief.
It seemed there would finally be a small respite from the heat and humidity that is a summer in Queensland.
It is ok. I’m used to it. All but two Christmases in my life have been spent in full knowledge that my outfits for the big day would revolve around garments with superior cross-ventilation qualities.
This Christmas was no different.
There were two family Christmas Days. Both in Brisbane.
Casual affairs with plenty of food and flowing champagne. My parents are not known for under-catering … or having an empty drinks fridge.
I wasn’t planning on trotting out something new for either occasion but I wasn’t planning on finding and shopping for some fabulous things when in Sydney the week before Christmas either {more on that on the blog soon}.
But I did.
So, I fashioned a couple of casual Christmas outfits around two new pieces: a Mr Rose Cruiser hot pink silk/cotton shirt and a Lucette teal silk tunic dress. Both pieces will be on high rotation for the rest of summer and will definitely make the cut for our family holiday in Bali.
Outfit #1
Mr Rose The Cruiser shirt* {I’m wearing size large} | NYDJ white shorts {bought in the US early this year} | Country Road wedges {bought last summer} | Red Phoenix Emporium necklace {as seen on me every second day ATM … see show pony comment below} | Uberkate earrings | Samantha Wills ring {sneaky gift to myself this Christmas}
Outfit #2
Lucette dress {I’m wearing size 3} | Sancerre band slip dress | Salita Matthews necklace {bought last summer} | Stuart Weitzman platforms {bought in New York earlier this year} | Uberkate earrings | Samantha Wills ring {same as in above outfit … when I love something it’s guaranteed to get a whole lot of show pony time}
Miss SY said it was ok to also feature her cute Christmas outfit here too. She topped up a birthday voucher from Mura Boutique to buy this polkdot number for herself.
Mura dress | Mimco headbad {inherited from me} | Country Road flats
Oh, and in case you missed it on Instagram … here’s how Mr SY rolled it on Christmas Day.
