Bikini Island

What do you sell in your store?
Bikini Island stocks a huge variety of well-known swimwear brands including Baku, Ginja, 2 Chillies, Zimmerman, Tigerlily, O’Neill, Condura, Seventh Wonderland, Nookie Beach, Holster, Bird & Kite, Mink Pink, Rival, Bilgola, and Suboo. Sizes range from 6-20 and A-F cups.

How did the idea for your store come about?
My parents have been in the swim industry since they established Bubbles Beach Co Pty. Ltd. in 1969. Bikini Island followed soon after so it was a natural progression for me.

What is your career background?
I was very fortunate to have grown up surrounded by the rag trade and having worked within the company for almost a decade, Bikini Island was a natural progression into something I’ve known and loved my entire life.

I spent my school holidays working in a factory surrounded by fabrics and swimwear. From the age of five, I worked on the strapping machines, progressing to the fabric laying up at eight years old (pay was in soft drink cans), dispatch at 13 (pay was in swimwear) and then at 16, I ran a Sydney Markets stand selling old swimwear.

At 18 I decided finance and law was the way forward, finished my law/finance degree. I lasted three months in the law industry before I realised the rag trade was not escaping me. I work with my oldest brother now and we have not looked back.

Who is your key customer?
Our key customer is web-savvy, willing to invest in good quality fabric and the perfect fit and loves to keep on top of the latest trends.

One of our website’s most popular features is the mix and match option, where you are able to see all the bikini top and pant options for one collection on the one page.
