Shhh … what are your bad skin habits giving away?

I met a very clever dermatologist a couple of months back. Well, all dermatologists are pretty clever in my books.

They’ve done quite a few more years at uni than I did doing my Arts degree and they have to have a head for science … not just a skill for choosing subjects that didn’t clash with watching Days of Our Lives.

Anyway, this particular dermatologist told us that she could immediately tell a person’s bad skin habits just by looking at them.

Which made me turn away immediately.

Did she know I’d only had five hours sleep the night before because I had to get up super early to catch a flight to hear her speak?

Did she know how many champagnes I’d consumed in the name of girly friendship last Friday night?

Did she know that I forgot to take my makeup off that one night two weeks ago?

Yes, my internal dialogue about my external appearance was working overtime.

But it got me to thinking.

Does your skin have a secret, something that would immediately give away what you’ve been doing … or haven’t been doing?

If so, would you like some easy solutions on how to disguise those secrets? Head on over to The Hoopla, I’m sharing some of mine there today.

bad skin habits

I’m a baaaad girl. I don’t use sunscreen in winter. My theory is that I need the dose of Vitamin D and my face is the only uncovered part of me. Don’t worry: I’m only out in the elements for less than 30 minutes each day and the sun is rather weak in this part of the world. The habit breaks with every pronouncement out there. But I don’t want to have broken bones when I’m 60 (which is what Vitamin D deficiency can lead to). I’m bad. I’m confused.

I think more people are leaning towards your moderation stance, Lisa. Not necessarily bad.

    Hey Nikki
What do you use the arnica cream for?

In this case it was for bruising caused by my iPad landing on my nose!

I use baby wipes, and only baby wipes, to wash my face at night. I have no idea if this is effective (I’m guessing not). But God knows all my wrinkles are baby-related so perhaps it’s apt.

Sounds completely apt to me … and maybe you’re on to something!
