ManLand (stuff and hints for blokes) March 2011

Wow, what a month it has been. Mother Nature has continued to show she is certainly the boss in devastating fashion. The human race can’t help but feel very insignificant when the old girl decides it’s time to flex her muscles.

With autumn now upon us, footy fever is back, the weather is starting to cool off and we are looking to move out of the boardies and into a more expanded wardrobe.

Just take a look at enigmatic fast bowler Mitchell Johnson. Right now he’s hanging onto summer by playing a key role for Australia at the 2011 Cricket World Cup in India, at the same time that his modeling career has him well into the cooler months with the Betts shoes Autumn Winter 11 campaign. The collection starts with styles from $79.95 and is in stores now. I want Mitch’s desert boots!

This month ManLand also loves:

1. Olay Men Solutions

Women’s skin care icons Olay have made their first foray into male grooming market with a range of products customised specifically with men’s skincare needs in mind. Designed by men, for men, the custom-developed textures and tailor-made fragrances address three male skin concerns: oiliness, roughness and dullness. Of the products I tested, my favourites are the Multi Solution Refreshing Toner ($19.99) and the Multi Solution Eye Gel ($19.99). The eye gel contains pro-vitamin B5, witch hazel and cucumber extract to help reduce the severity of those dark circles.  Available at leading mass stores and pharmacy outlets. www.olay.com.au

2. MilkMan briefs, $24.90

More and more commonly product brands are having fun with the “styled just for men” concept in their marketing campaigns. HotMilk Lingerie have just launched a men’s range, aptly named Milkman, with the tag line that they’re designed to deliver daily where it matters most … all jokes aside, they provide real comfort and support throughout the entire day and are excellent quality. They’ll be in store from this August. www.hotmilklingerie.com

3. Johnson & Johnson, Clean and Clear, Morning Face Scrub, $9.90

Regular readers of Manland (apparently there are a couple of you out there) would know I love a face scrub. Not just a cleanser, but a *SCCCRrub*, that has the power to get in and forcibly remove the grime and grease that builds up over a day. Creators of the Clean & Clear range, Johnson & Johnson have put a refreshing new twist on my favorite cleaning ritual with a morning face scrub packed with vitamin C, ginseng, grapefruit and cucumber extracts, as well as scrubbing beads to do the leg work.  The overall result is a great feeling of cleanliness and refreshment. All Johnson & Johnson, Clean and Clear products are available nationally from supermarkets and selected pharmacies.

4. Dermalogica shaving products

Dermalogica knows about the ritual of shaving. They know that without good product it can be a challenge and even down right painful. They also know what makes a good product. The new Shave range has a Soothing Shave Cream (180 ml) that produces a nice, close shave and a Post Shave Balm (50 ml) that works quickly to reduce irritation.
